DIDREX APPETITE SUPPRESSANT

Didrex (Benzphetamine) is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. Didrex stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), increasing your heart rate and blood pressure and decreasing your appetite. Didrex is used as a short-term supplement to diet and exercise and is considered a treatment for obesity. Benzphetamine (Didrex) is an FDA-approved drug.

Appetite suppressants should NOT be used as a substitute for proper diet or exercise. They must be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and/or exercise for maximum effect.

Before Using Didrex

You should not use Benzphetamine if you have heart problems, heart disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, or a history of drug abuse. Benzphetamine can interact with several medications, so be sure to tell your doctor about all drugs you take.

Benzphetamine should only be used under doctor supervision.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS of Didrex

Like all prescription appetite suppressants, there are common side effects. Benzphetamine side effects can include:

  • trouble sleeping
  • dizziness
  • tremors
  • increased sweating
  • hyperactivity or restlessness
  • upset stomach, nausea, or constipation
  • dry mouth
  • blurred vision
  • headache
  • irritability

Talk with your doctor about other potential side effects. Your doctor will want you to watch for additional side effects, including changes in mood, heart fluttering or pounding, changes in urination, or increased blood pressure.

Didrex FAQs

How should I take Didrex?

Answer:

Take Didrex exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label and do not take larger or smaller amounts or use it for a longer duration than recommended.

What is the recommended dosage of Didrex?

Answer:

The suggested dosage of Didrex ranges from 25 to 50 mg, to be taken one to three times daily. The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's response to the medication.

What should I do if I am not experiencing weight loss with Didrex?

Answer:

If you have increased hunger or feel the medication is not working effectively, consult with your doctor. Taking more of this medication will not enhance its effectiveness and can lead to serious, life-threatening side effects. Didrex should only be used for a short period of time. If you haven't lost any weight after four weeks of treatment, inform your doctor. Remember, Didrex is just one part of a comprehensive treatment program that may involve diet, exercise, and weight control. It is crucial to follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

Answer:

If you miss a dose of Didrex, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to compensate for the missed dose.

What drugs, substances, or supplements can interact with Didrex?

Answer:

Didrex may interact with several medications, substances, and supplements, including:

  • Ammonium chloride
  • Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
  • K-Phos
  • Blood pressure medications
